Vivian Kwan off to Bowls for the Disabled World Champs!

Edmonton athlete, Vivian Kwan will be attending the 2015 International Bowls for the Disabled World Championships, February 15 to 27, in New Zealand. She has participated in Lawn Bowls Nationals as part of the ASRAB team.

Vivian first learned about lawn bowling for the visually impaired two years ago, and she, along with her son Marvin Kwan as her guide, have been playing the sport together ever since. Prior to this, she was bowling recreationally at the club level.

In 2014, Vivian was awarded silver at the Blind Bowls Association of Canada’s national competition.  As a result, she was offered the opportunity to attend the 2015 IBD World Championships. Vivian will be playing in the Women’s B3 and Mixed Pairs B3 (Vivian along with another visually impaired bowler from the Canadian team) categories.

When asked of their expectations for the upcoming competition, Marvin expressed that “we hope to be competitive, and represent ourselves and those that have supported us well”.
