Dance Try-it

ASRAB is collaborating with Lacrossing Barriers to provide an all-ages and abilities Dance!

The sessions will include modern tap and body percussion, engaging participants in creating rhythms and sounds with their bodies!

Ages: All ages (4+)

Boxing Try-it

ASRAB is collaborating with Lacrossing Barriers to offer an all-ages and abilities boxing!

All ages, abilities, and fitness levels are welcome! The session will include learning proper stances, footwork, punches, and working on coordination.

Ages: All ages (4+)

Where: Olympus Boxing Club 3320 14 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2A 6J4

Time: Mondays 5:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.

Lacrosse Try-it

ASRAB is collaborating with Lacrossing Barriers!

Lacrossing Barriers is a Not for Profit Organization dedicated to providing opportunities to play sport, move and learn skills to those in marginalized communities who have not always been given a choice.

The Lacrosse try-it will include an introduction to passing, shooting, and catching!

Ages: All ages (4+)

Soccer Try-it

ASRAB is parterning with Calgary Soccability to provide an all-ages soccer try-it!

This is an inclusive soccer program for players of all abilities and impairments. The program provides an adapted curriculum, where the coaches can meet players where they are.

The sesssions will include motor skills, and technical skills!

Ages: All ages (4+)

Where: Vecova Centre- 3304 33 St NW, Calgary, AB T2L 2A6

Time: Saturdays 9:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.

Movement for Me

Movement for me focuses on developing fundamental movement skills for children. Take part in fun activities that teach skills like throwing, jumping, balance and running!

Yoga

Yoga is a spiritual discipline that uses breath control, relaxation techniques, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures to increase overall body health. Learn the techniques to a better mind, body and soul through yoga!

Ages: Adults (18+)

Where: Bridgeland Riverside Community Association, 917 Centre Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E0C6

Time: Tuesdays 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Goalball

Children, Youth and Recreation

ASRAB is excited to invite you to learn and play goalball!

Come and try the Paralympic sport of goalball! Goalball is played on a volleyball sized court with tactile tape, an audible ball, and eye shades.

Discover how to play and develop some new skills!

All abilities are welcome. All equipment is provided. All you need to do is show up and have fun!

Cost: Free for members

Location: Bob Niven Training Centre (Winsport), 88 Canada Olympic Rd SW, Calgary, AB T3B 5R5

Time: Sundays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Skating Skills and Hockey Drills

Join our program for some fun on the ice!

This program is aimed at developing and enhancing skating skills and practicing hockey drills to prepare you for the sport of blind hockey or fine-tune your skills!

One half of the ice will be devoted to learning how to skate and the other half will be devoted to learning blind hockey skills and drills.

Participants will need: hockey helmet, skates, a stick, and normal warm-weather clothing including gloves, as the rink is cool. Elbow pads and knee pads are recommended.

If you need to rent gear, please contact us for options.

Ages: All ages

Where: YYC Hockey Hub (10 Stonehill Pl NE #150, Calgary, AB T3N 1T7)

Cost: $50 for members.

Time: Sundays, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Walking Club

Come catch a breath of fresh air and join in on our walking club! Walking club will be held at different parks and walking paths around the Calgary area. Walking Club will take place outdoors depending on weather conditions.

Dates: Every Sunday (weather permitting and excluding long weekends)

Time: From 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Where: Locations to be announced via e-mail after registration.

Registration: Please register by emailing Program.calgary@asrab.ab.ca with participants age, name and phone number.

Membership Reminder

Please join ASRAB, to have access to sport and recreation programming for persons with visual impairment. Memberships are on a calendar year (January 1-December 31).

Membership fees:

$20.00 for Individuals [to a maximum of $40.00 per family]

We now have online forms that allow you to complete your membership online and use a credit card to make payment.
