Caden Johnson

sight night Red Deer 2021 is pleased to announce Caden Johnson as the Honorary Chair of the event. Here is his story:

Hello, my name is Caden, and I am excited to be this year’s Honourary Chair for sight night Red Deer. I am 13 years old, and in grade 9 in Red Deer. I was born with Leber Congenital Amaurosis, a condition which prevents my retinas from functioning normally. I have about 20/400 vision, and I am photophobic meaning the light hurts my eyes. ASRAB has supported me by bringing sporting events for blind and visually impaired youth to Central Alberta. I have participated in many sports and events including goal ball, wall climbing, blind hockey, and skateboarding.

The second annual sight night Red Deer is on Saturday, October 16th at Bower Ponds. This event will raise money to go towards activities for blind and visually impaired youth in Central Alberta. Without an organization like ASRAB, blind and visually impaired youth would not have the opportunity to participate in adapted sports and activities.

I hope you will all join me to run in the dark at sight night Red Deer!
