We look forward to a successful sight night!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/asrab.ab.ca\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Pledge-Form-sight-night-2019.xlsx\">DOWNLOAD PLEDGE FORM SPREADSHEET<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>About<\/h2>\n<p>When the sun goes down on Saturday, November 16th, 2019,\u00a0the light from hundreds of headlamps will bob and weave along the Bow River Pathway as enthusiasts and supporters of visually impaired Albertans join in <b>sight night<\/b> Calgary &#8211; a fun run after dark.<\/p>\n<p>Raising funds and awareness for the Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB), <strong>sight night<\/strong>, presented by Flaman Fitness, is more than just another run. It is a vision-optional event. Runners who are visually impaired will share the path with sighted runners. I was introduced to goalball in 2010 through a demonstration and shortly after started playing. Since then, ASRAB supported my training with devoted coaches and travel for competitions.<\/p>\n<p>Through years of hard work, commitment, and training, I am proud to have recently made the Canadian Women\u2019s Goalball National Team, and we recently competed September 2019 at the Parapan Am Games in in Lima \u2026 where we won bronze! I am now one step closer to achieving my dream, which is to compete at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>When I am not playing goalball, I enjoy teaching private piano lessons from home and making pizza with my husband. I have a double degree in Music and Education and currently substitute teach with Rocky View Schools.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2853 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/asrab.ab.ca\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/ruby_soliman2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Rugby Soliman\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><br \/>\nI am excited to be chosen as the Honorary Chair of sight night. Funds raised at this event go to supporting programs such as goalball, physical literacy and a variety of active living programs. This sport has opened so many doors for me as an athlete as well as my little sister who also plays goalball and has enjoyed playing and competing just like me. There are also positions that need to be filled even if you can\u2019t make it to the actual run event. Sign up for a volunteer position by sending an e-mail to\u00a0<a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"mailto:sightnight@asrab.ab.ca\">sightnightcalgary@asrab.ab.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>sight night CHALLENGE<\/h3>\n<p><strong>How can you make a difference and provide more support to ASRAB?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can support ASRAB by taking the <strong>sight night challenge<\/strong> .\u00a0\u00a0You will have the opportunity to raise funds for ASRAB by telling your family and friends about the event, encouraging them to participate, or asking them to make a tax deductible donation to ASRAB by supporting your fund-raising efforts. Once you have raised $250.00 or more in pledges for ASRAB, your registration fee will be refunded and you will participate for free!
