When the sun went down on Saturday, September 27, 2014<\/strong> the light from hundreds of headlamps bobbed and weaved along the North Saskatchewan River Pathways as enthusiasts and supporters of visually impaired Albertans joined in <\/span>sight night<\/strong> \u2013 a fun run after dark. <\/span><\/p>\n sight night<\/strong>, presented by Flaman Fitness, is more than just another run – it is a vision-optional event that raises funds and awareness for the Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB).<\/span><\/p>\n Linda MacPhail, ASRAB Executive Director, and Don Iverson, Edmonton Mayor<\/p><\/div>\n sight night <\/strong>Edmonton was initiated by Dean Kozak. Dean has been involved in recreation and competitive sport with ASRAB for many years, and participated in four Paralympics winning a Silver medal in the sport of Goalball (Atlanta 1996). Dean\u2019s ultimate desire is to provide blind and visually impaired individuals the same opportunities he had to be active and learn how to compete in a multitude of environments with confidence, competence and poise.<\/p>\n Mayor Don Iveson and long time ASRAB member Lorne Webber are serving as <\/span>sight night<\/b> Edmonton\u2019s Honourary Co-Chairs. \u00a0These two will lead the charge of the light brigade on September 27th \u2013 with the Mayor as Lorne’s guide.
