Directors Elected as of the ASRAB AGM May 3, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n

Board Positions<\/h3>\n

Further to an ASRAB Governance Review, the ASRAB bylaws were restated and approved at the 2013 AGM.\u00a0 The key change was to restructure the Board positions and responsibilities in alignment with the ASRAB strategic priorities (as confirmed December 2010): Education \/ Awareness, Operational Practices, Competitive Sport, Active Living, and Sponsorship & Funding.<\/p>\n

THE PRESIDENT<\/b> is the official spokesperson for the Board and the Association and shall chair all meetings throughout the year.\u00a0 The President shall be responsible for hiring and supervising the Executive Director of the Association.\u00a0 He\/she shall ensure that the files, records and general administrative business of the Association are current and correctly maintained.\u00a0 He\/she shall ensure sound program and financial planning.\u00a0 He\/she shall appoint members to committees with the approval of the Board.\u00a0 The President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees.<\/span><\/p>\n

THE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS<\/b> shall be responsible for the Association Bylaws and policies.\u00a0 He\/she shall chair the Human Resources Committee.\u00a0 He\/she shall be responsible for all communications of the Association, including the Website and Social Media.\u00a0 He\/she shall establish the Association Planning process, and Program Review processes.\u00a0 He\/she shall perform other duties as designated by the President.<\/p>\n

THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE<\/b> will serve as the Treasurer of the Association.\u00a0 He\/she shall ensure that the financial records of the Association are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.\u00a0 He\/she shall be responsible for the financial policies of the Association.\u00a0 He\/she will ensure financial accountability and oversight.\u00a0 He\/she will provide oversight of Fund Development.\u00a0 He\/she shall ensure funding partner financial requirements are met.\u00a0 He\/she shall have oversight of Fund Development.\u00a0 He\/she shall perform other duties as designated by the President.<\/p>\n

THE DIRECTOR OF COMPETITIVE SPORT<\/b> shall be responsible for the competitive sport programs of the Association.\u00a0 He\/she shall appoint committee chairs for each sport.\u00a0 He\/she shall be responsible to ensure annual plans are developed for each competitive sport.\u00a0 He\/she shall liaise with other competitive sport organizations who have visually impaired or blind athletes.\u00a0 He\/she shall be responsible for the development of policy related to competitive sport.\u00a0 He\/she shall be responsible sport program development and review.\u00a0 He\/she shall perform other duties as designated by the President.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

THE DIRECTOR OF ACTIVE LIVING<\/b> shall be responsible for implementation of the Active Living Strategy.\u00a0 He\/she shall ensure the provision of active living programs.\u00a0 He\/she shall perform other duties as designated by the President.<\/p>\n

THE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND AWARENESS<\/b> shall be responsible for the promotion of the Association.\u00a0 He\/she shall liaise with strategic partners.\u00a0 He\/she shall perform other duties as designated by the President.<\/p>\n

Board News<\/h3>\n

ASRAB Thanks You \u2013 Lorna and Peter!<\/b> (As at ASRAB AGM June 1, 2016)<\/p>\n

Lorna Snow and Peter Wettlaufer both completed their terms on the Board, retiring as the Director of Active Living and the President respectively.\u00a0 Lorna had been a founding Director of ASRAB in 1975, and had served on the Board continuously since (41 years!), while Peter had served on the Board for 30 years.\u00a0 ASRAB was fortunate to have these leaders contributing to the mandate of ASRAB and sharing their knowledge.\u00a0 Fortunately for ASRAB, Lorna and Peter will continue to contribute their technical expertise to the sport of Goalball (Lorna as a coach and Peter as an official).\u00a0 We look forward to continuing a great collaboration!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
