Click the following link to visit our membership page: ASRAB 2022 Membership Form<\/a><\/p>\n Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB) is holding an upcoming casino fundraiser! We are looking for a few persons to fill volunteer positions that are required over the two days. Hosting a Casino is a primary fundraising event for ASRAB. These funds go a long way towards enabling ASRAB to meet our mandate of supporting sport and recreation opportunities for people who are visually impaired including our dance, gymnastics, soccer, physical literacy, skiing, boccia, golf, goalball programs and many more! This is a great event to meet and work alongside other ASRAB volunteers and members.<\/p>\n The positions that are available are:<\/p>\n Cashier: Redeems players’ chips for cash. Little data entry required.<\/p>\n Chiprunner: Delivers chips from the Banker to the game tables as required. Will count chips with the gaming floor staff as required. A fair amount of data entry is required.<\/p>\n Countroom Staff: Will sort and use money counting machines to count money. Some data entry required.<\/p>\n Note that all positions involve doing some data entry by the volunteers on PDAs (small handheld computers) – but it is very easy!<\/p>\n Where<\/strong>: Cash Casino (4040 Blackfoot Trail SE) in Calgary)<\/p>\n When<\/strong>: Tuesday April 5 and Wednesday April 6, 2022<\/p>\n The shifts that are available for both days are:<\/p>\n Day shift for cashier and chiprunner – 11:15am to 7:30pm.<\/p>\n Night shift for cashier and chiprunner – 7:00pm to 3:30am.<\/p>\n Count Room shift – 11:30pm – 3:30am.<\/p>\n Ages<\/strong>: 18+<\/p>\n Registration<\/strong>: email execdirector@asrab.ab.ca<\/a> Thanks very much for your consideration! Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n ASRAB is thrilled to offer a children and youth Introduction to Skating and Hockey program. Thank you to @HockeyAlberta and @HockeyABFdn for their support through the Every Kid Every Community grant for making this possible. #EveryKidEveryCommunity<\/p>\n This program is aimed at developing skating skills and learning some hockey drills. Join our program for some fun on the ice! One half of the ice will be devoted to learning how to skate and the other half will be devoted to learning blind hockey skills and drills.<\/p>\n Participants are free to bring their full hockey gear if they normally play hockey. For those that are just learning to skate and play hockey, participants will need: hockey helmet, skates, a stick, and normal warm-weather clothing including gloves, as the rink is cool. Elbow pads and knee pads are recommended. If you need to rent gear, you may do so on your own behalf (or contact us for options). Also, please come 15 minutes early to allow time to lace up!<\/p>\n Dates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n Sat. Goalball is played on a volleyball sized court with tactile tape, an audible ball, and eye shades.<\/p>\n Discover how to play and develop some new skills! Walking Club will take place outdoors depending on weather conditions. Wether you would like to participate again, or try it for the first time, it is a great way to keep active. The Triathlon includes 15 minutes of swimming, 15 minutes of biking (stationary bikes) and 15 minutes of running (indoor). Go at your own level of ability or pace. This is a 6 week program designed with inclusivity in mind for children of all abilities. Enjoy a wide range of activities from basketball to wheelchair fencing.<\/p>\n Dates: Session 2: March 12 – April 16, 2022<\/p>\n Time: Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.<\/p>\n Ages: 5-12<\/p>\n Where: Repsol Sport Centre<\/p>\n Registration: Member Price is $92.00 and non-member price is $102.00.
