ASRAB announces new Executive Director <\/strong><\/p>\n

Stephen Burke<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Burke<\/strong> as its new Executive Director, effective today<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Burke brings more than 25 years of experience in inclusive sport leadership, adaptive sport development, and national program management.<\/p><\/div>\n

His career spans senior roles with the Canadian Blind Sports Association<\/strong>, including Acting Executive Director and Director of Domestic Programs, where he led national Goalball operations, coordinated classification services, supported high\u2011performance planning, and strengthened partnerships across Canada\u2019s sport system. Most recently, Burke served as a Senior Sport Consultant with the Government of Alberta<\/strong>, supporting provincial sport organizations through strategic planning, governance development, grant management, and safe sport initiatives.<\/div>\n

As Executive Director, Burke will lead program development, community engagement, strategic planning, and partnership growth<\/strong>, ensuring ASRAB continues to expand opportunities for blind and visually impaired athletes across Alberta. His leadership will support ASRAB\u2019s mission to deliver high\u2011quality, inclusive sport and recreation experiences through its hubs in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Grande Prairie.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honoured to join ASRAB and to serve a community that has shaped so much of my career. I\u2019ve seen firsthand the impact that inclusive sport can have on athletes, families, and entire communities, and I\u2019m committed to building on the strong foundation Linda has created. I look forward to working with our athletes, volunteers, and partners to continue growing opportunities across Alberta.\u201d said Burke.<\/p>\n
