Upcoming Events Including: Skateboarding, Disc Golf, Sailing, Soccer, Walking Club, Dragon Boating


Skateboarding Try-it with Skatelife Calgary

Come and experience the fun of skateboarding! Members will have the the opportunity to learn how to balance, how to stand and how to move on a skateboard. No experience necessary. Volunteers will be paired with each member to insure safety while skateboarding.

When: Saturday, August 17, 2019

Where: Market Collective – Cowboys Tent (located outdoors beside the Cowboys Club 421 12 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 1A5)

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Ages: 6+

Registration: Please register by e-mailing with participants age, name and phone number.

Attire: Please bring a helmet to this event and wear outdoor runners.

Disc Golf Try-it

Disc golf is played much like golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, though, players use a frisbee. A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to a target, which is the metal basket. As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive throw from the spot where the previous throw landed. When the “putt” lands in the basket, the hole is completed.

When: Sunday, August 18, 2019

Where: Bow Bottom Baseball Fields (Lake Huron Crescent SE, Calgary, AB T2J 5H9)

Time: 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Ages: 6+

Come Sail Away with us!

What better way to spend your Thursday than on the water learning how to sail with the Disabled Sailing Association of Alberta. Join in on the fun! Life jackets are provided.

Where: South Glenmore Park. The clubhouse is located at the Glenmore Reservoir off 24th Street and 90th Ave. If you are getting a ride or driving, park in the South Glenmore Parking lot while Access buses normally drop off by the Glenmore Sailing School (beside it). The clubhouse is the grey building to the left of the two blue roofed buildings in the boat yard when you are facing the water.

When: Thursday, August 22, 2019

Time: 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Registration Fee: $15 per person

Soccer with ACPSA

Visually impaired soccer is played between two teams of players with an audible soccer ball. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing goal. Learn how to dribble, pass and shoot with experienced coaches and athletes there to mentor you. This is an all ages and abilities program designed to introduce you to various audible soccer balls and techniques. This introduction program is great for anyone who may be interested in a new parasport at grass roots level. The object of soccer is to work together with your teammates in order to get past the other team and score on their net, while also defending your own net.

Walking Club

Come catch a breath of fresh air and join in on some fun walks around Come walk with us through various parks and along pathways as we explore the outdoors of Calgary. This is a terrific way to get active and make new friends. Casual walks are available for all ages and allow members to experience the wilderness and the surroundings of nature.

Where: Different locations around the Calgary area! Locations will be announced via e-mail upon sign-up.

When: Tuesdays

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Cheer on ASRAB’s Dragon Boating Team!

Come and cheer on ASRAB’s dragon boating team called Vision Builders this weekend at the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival!

Where: Calgary Canoe Club located at 7305 Crowchild Trail South.

Saturday, August 10th; and
Sunday August 11th.

Details: First race is at 9:30 a.m. and second race is at 1:30 p.m. on August 10, 2019. The Sunday race schedule will be determined after the first two races. Go team Vision Builders!

Golf Tournament Opportunity!

The Canadian Amputee and Disabled National Open 2019 (CADNO) is a golf tournament that is open to amputees and people with disabilities.
