Remembering Devoted Goalball Coach Danny Snow

Danny SnowASRAB is so sad to announce the recent passing of Danny Snow. Danny was a bastion of goalball in Alberta and Canada, where he coached both men’s and women’s teams, provincially and nationally. He led his teams at National and World Championships, at Para Panam and Paralympic Games, for over 30 years.

Danny was the ultimate coach, loving all aspects of the game: the tactics and strategies, the technical skills … but most of all the players and people involved.

Danny was the most welcoming, gracious and approachable person, and was truly pleased to be involved with any aspect of the sport of goalball (including apres sport).

Danny was a consummate team player, and would support his players in any way he could. He supported the sport of goalball; whether as coach, referee, tournament director, driver or sounding board. He supported ASRAB; whether in the gym, or at sight night, or volunteering at a casino.

“It is a true loss to our community and to many who were lucky to call Danny a friend. Danny’s warm hugs, kindness and dedication to our organization, athletes and the overall Goalball community will truly be missed. A great loss will be felt by all of us but no greater than our dear friend, coach, and supporter, Lorna Snow. Our deepest thought are with you, we stand behind your sorrow and share fond memories.” Kelly Baldock, ASRAB President

Our sincere condolences are extended to Lorna and the Snow family.

He will be missed.

The family has requested that, if friends wish, memorial donations can be made to ASRAB in Danny’s honour [either through the Donation page on the ASRAB website or by e-transfer to]
