Skating and Hockey Basics
Are you interested in trying out skating and hockey but don’t know where to start?
ASRAB is holding lessons to give everyone the chance to learn the skating and hockey basics. Welcoming all ages, learn how to move, glide and stop along the ice!
Where: Downtown Community Arena
Ages: 6 years and up
Dates:
Saturday February 8th: 2:30-3:30pm
Sunday February 16th: 2:30-3:30pm
Registration Fee: $15 per person
Details: Please bring skates and a helmet. As well, please dress warmly for the arena. If you do not own skates, skates can be rentals are available at different retail locations such as Totem Outdoor Outfitters.

Cross Country Skiing Try-it!
Join ASRAB as we partner with the Edmonton Nordic Ski Club for the Cross Country Skiing Try-it Program.
Learn how to glide across the snow as you explore the beautiful surrounding park.
Where: Strathcona Science Provincial Park

Time: 12:30 – 2:00pm
Cost: $10 per person
Details: Equipment will NOT be provided at the program. Equipment is available for rental at locations such Mountain Equipment Co-Op or Totem Outfitters.

Blind Hockey
Are you interested in trying out hockey? Consider joining the Edmonton SeeHawks!
The game is modified by an adapted puck that makes noise, and is both bigger and slower than a traditional puck. Players’ levels of vision range from legally blind – approximately 10% vision or less – to totally blind, with the lowest vision athletes playing defence or goal. The team is always welcoming new recruits!

Goalball
Are you interested in trying out goalball?
Goalball is a team sport where players all wear eyeshades to create an equal playing field. Three players play on each side of the court, use tactile tape to move around the court and while listening for the audible ball to block. The ball is throw by one team while the opposing defend their goal.
Where: Spruce Avenue School, 11424 102 St
When: Tuesdays every week!
There is no practice on February 18th.
Time: 7:30-10pm
Ages: All ages
Kids (15 and younger) play the first hour!
Details: Tight athletic pants or shorts are preferred. If you have long hair please wear it up.

National Physical Activity Measure (NPAM) Study
Complete an online survey and receive a gift card + the chance to receive a Fitbit! Researchers from the University of Toronto are seeking kids (ages 4 to 17 years) with disabilities and their parents to participate.
