Ski for Light Canada
Ski for Light Canada’s mission is to host a welcoming and accessible annual event that provides an opportunity for blind and visually impaired adults to experience cross-country skiing in Canada.
Each winter, Ski for Light Canada hosts a week-long cross-country ski event in Western Canada. At the event, blind and visually impaired adults are paired for the week with a sighted cross-country skier who acts as a guide. The blind or visually impaired person skis in tracks groomed into the snow, while the guide skis in a parallel set of tracks. The guide provides directions, skiing tips, as well as support and encouragement. The event incorporates lots of skiing, fun and social opportunities!
When: January 22-28, 2024
