Meet Our New Grande Prairie Program Lead – Francis!
Francis Tagarino is a dedicated Program Lead for the Alberta Sport and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB) in Grande Prairie. A proud local, Francis Tagarino has lived in Grande Prairie for most of their life and has a strong connection to the community.
Academic Pursuits:
Currently a Kinesiology student pursuing a degree in Health Sciences, Francis is also working towards a Personal Trainer Diploma at Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP). His academic journey is fueled by a deep-seated passion for fitness, health, and well-being. Through this passion, Francis has worked and earned his Certificate in Athletic Wrapping, and he is certified to coach individuals who have physical and cognitive impairments. He finishes his diploma in Kinesiology this fall.
Professional Role:
At ASRAB, Francis leads programs designed to make sports and recreation accessible to the blind and visually impaired. This position allows him to combine his love for fitness with a commitment to inclusivity and community support. Francis has volunteered for several athletics programs, like the Wolverines wheelchair basketball and RBC training ground.
Passion for Fitness and Adapted Sports:
Through his studies and professional experiences, Francis has cultivated a profound appreciation for adapted sports. He is dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to participate in physical activities, fostering physical and cognitive well-being. This passion has driven him to explore every facet of the fitness industry, ensuring that sports and recreation are accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities.
Personal Commitment:
Francis’s dedication to fitness extends beyond his professional work. He actively engages in various fitness activities and continually seeks to expand his knowledge and skills in health sciences. His personal and professional experiences have enriched his understanding and respect for diverse communities, reinforcing his commitment to inclusivity in all aspects of his work.
Vision:
Looking ahead, Francis aims to further integrate their academic pursuits with their passion for adaptive sports, aspiring to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals in Grande Prairie and beyond. He is committed to promoting health and fitness for all, championing the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to lead an active and fulfilling life.
Walking Club
Take a break from your routine and join us for a delightful afternoon walk at Muskoseepi Park!
This is a fantastic opportunity to unwind, socialize, and make new connections while exploring the beautiful trails.
Let’s wrap up our walk with a relaxing coffee gathering at the pavilion. Please make sure to dress up in clothing that is breathable, and to bring some bug spray if necessary, and a bottle of water.

Whether you’re a seasoned bowler or just looking to have some fun, this event is for everyone. Join us for 1.5 hours of games, laughs, and good company in a laid-back, non-competitive setting.

Please join ASRAB, to have access to sport and recreation programming for persons with visual impairment. Memberships are on a calendar year (January 1-December 31).
Membership fees:
$20.00 for Individuals [to a maximum of $40.00 per family]
We now have online forms that allow you to complete your membership online and use a credit card to make payment.
