ASRAB announces retirement of Executive Director
Linda MacPhail
The Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB) is announcing an upcoming change in senior leadership with the retirement of current Executive Director, Linda MacPhail, on July 31, 2026.
Linda has been a valued member of ASRAB since joining the organization in late November 2011. While we are saddened to see her retire, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the future.
During her tenure as Executive Director, Linda has played a pivotal role in growing ASRAB into the robust organization it is today. Her dedication, vision, and tireless efforts have helped build strong connections within Alberta’s blind and visually impaired community, supporting ASRAB’s mission of enabling individuals to lead active and healthy lives through sport and recreation.
Linda stated that “my role as ASRAB Executive Director has been a great adventure for me. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to work collaboratively with our members, volunteers, clinicians and partners to bring ASRAB’s vision to life and build a responsive province-wide organization. It has been especially gratifying to witness the Association’s growth and to see our increasing ability to inspire, support and empower our membership.”
Linda’s leadership, passion, and commitment will be greatly missed. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we extend our sincere gratitude for her many years of dedicated service and the lasting impact she has made on ASRAB and the communities it serves.
Daniela Ruttle, ASRAB President:
It is my pleasure to wish Linda all the best in her well-deserved upcoming retirement. Linda joined ASRAB 15 years ago and has worked tirelessly to grow this organization. As an ASRAB board member, I was able to work alongside Linda and see the impact her dedication, passion, and vision have had on our organization and the families it serves. As a parent, I am thankful for her efforts to create a place where children, youth, adults, and families have found opportunities, confidence, and a true sense of belonging.
ASRAB will be announcing in the coming days the hiring of its new Executive Director.
