The Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB) is excited to introduce Gold Medal Olympian Jill Linder as its new Program Lead for Lethbridge.
Jill comes from a strong sporting background, including being a former member of the U.S. Women’s Bobsleigh Team. Together with her teammate, they became the first women to win a gold medal in women’s bobsleigh at the inaugural Olympic Games event in 2002.
During her time as an athlete, she was fortunate to volunteer with Special Olympics and other amazing organizations that support youth and students in staying active and engaged in sport.
Said Linder, “Sport has taught me so much about community, commitment, perseverance, and the importance of supporting those around you. These are values that continue to guide me in both my personal and professional life.”
After retiring from sport, she began her career as a bobsleigh coach, coaching at both the development and national levels. Her other career experiences include working with adaptive outdoor recreation programs in both B.C. and Alberta, working in an elementary school as an Educational Assistant, and currently, with her husband, who own and operate Hi-Tech Bracing and Orthotics here in Lethbridge.
Jill looks forward to working with ASRAB and the Lethbridge community, helping to grow the programs and create opportunities for people to get involved, stay active, and experience all the positive things that sport and recreation have to offer.
