Position: Coach
How long have you played goalball?
Played goalball for 32 years. Coached Alberta Provincial teams since 2009. Coaching the Women’s National team since 2014.
What has been the highlight of your goalball career?
As a player, competing in the 1988 and 1992 Paralympics in Seoul, South Korea and Barcelona, Spain. As well as finishing third at the World Cup of Goalball in 1990 in Calgary. As a coach, qualifying for the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, as well as winning the 2017 qualifying tournament in Brazil.
What are your personal and team goals for goalball?
As a provincial coach to have two top finishes at the National Championships.
What other sports do you play?
I have played hockey, track and field, swimming, and volleyball.
How has ASRAB helped you?
ASRAB has helped me when I was just getting involved with sports for the visually impaired, in terms of opportunities and technical support. This has continued when I switched from competing to coaching.
Have you participated in other ASRAB activities?
Sight Night and the hockey programs.
What motivates you to continue to participate in sports and recreation with ASRAB?
As ASRAB has been such a big part of my life, I am giving back to the organization.
