Come experience golf lessons with ASRAB! Join us and learn golf techniques on the driving range and golf course. Members will be paired with a volunteer to help with technique. Each member will be given instructions, range balls, and rentals if needed.

Pedal Boating and BBQ!

Come try out pedal boating on the water ways of Bowness Park! The two manned boats are a great way for members and their guide to cruise around in. Like a bicycle they are propelled by placing your feet on pedals and pushing in a circular motion. Afterwards we can hang-out in the beautiful park and enjoy some hamburgers and hot dogs!

When: Friday July 12th

Where: Bowness Park located at 8900 48 Ave NW, Calgary

Learn Line Dancing in time for Stampede!

Wanting to break in those cowboy boots during Stampede? We can get you all ready to hit the dance floor and show off your moves! New to ASRAB, Carly, has a background in dance and will be guiding through the dance moves to all popular line dances.

Sailing Try-it! NEW DATE

What better way to spend your Saturday than on the water learning how to sail with Disabled Sailing Association of Alberta. Join in on the fun! Life jackets are provided.

Where: South Glenmore Park. The clubhouse is located at the Glenmore Reservoir off 24th Street and 90th Ave. If you are getting a ride or driving, park in the South Glenmore Parking lot while Access buses normally drop off by the Glenmore Sailing School (beside it). The clubhouse is the grey building to the left of the two blue roofed buildings in the boat yard when you are facing the water.

3 Day Sports Camp!

ASRAB is partnering with Active Living at the University of Calgary and hosting a ASRAB sports camp! It will include three days of sports and activities with skating lesson each day. Other activities will include, soccer, obstacle courses, lawn activities, yoga and a nature walk!

When: July 23rd – 25th

Dragon Boating!

Join ASRAB’s dragon boating team this summer called Vision Builders and participate in the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival! Come out and participate in the practices along the Glenmore Reservoir in preparation for the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival! Please note that participation in both the festival and practices is highly encouraged.

Where: Calgary Canoe Club located at 7305 Crowchild Trail South. Please note that we will meet in front if the building at the bench.

When: Practice Sessions:

Walking Club

Come catch a breath of fresh air and join in on some fun walks around Come walk with us through various parks and along pathways as we explore the outdoors of Calgary. This is a terrific way to get active and make new friends. Casual walks are available for all ages and allow members to experience the wilderness and the surroundings of nature.

Where: The first meeting place will be in Edworthy Park at Angels Cappuccino and Ice Cream located at 4105 Montgomery View NW Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Other locations will be announced via e-mail and will be around the Calgary area.

When: Tuesdays

Come Kick it With us and ACPSA Parasoccer!

Visually impaired soccer is played between two teams of players with an audible soccer ball. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing goal. Learn how to dribble, pass and shoot with experienced coaches and athletes there to mentor you. This is an all ages and abilities program designed to introduce you to various audible soccer balls and techniques. This introduction program is great for anyone who may be interested in a new parasport at grass roots level. The object of soccer is to work together with your teammates in order to get past the other team and score on their net, while also defending your own net

Summer Yoga Program!

Yoga is a spiritual discipline that uses breath control, relaxation techniques, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures to increase overall body health. Learn the techniques to a better mind, body and soul through yoga! ASRAB is partnering with the Canadian Council for the Blind (CCB) again this summer to provide a wonderful yoga program. Sign up for the Tuesday or the Friday classes starting in May! [Please note, CCB will be covering the fees for CCB members, not including the ASRAB membership fee]

Horse-back Riding Summer Camp!

A great opportunity to have more experience with horse-back riding! Participants will come 3 days in a row, for 1.5 hour lessons, which will allow time for them to groom and tack their horse as well as riding time!

When: July 15, 16, 17 from 12:30 – 2:00.

Adapted Sports Summer Camp Opportunity!

Come discover your abilities! This camp is centered around giving campers with physical disabilities the opportunity to explore various adapted sport, recreation and leisure activities. Different programs from the Calgary area will provide the opportunity for each camper to experience a trial of the adapted physical activity programming they offer throughout the year. Campers will get to challenge themselves physically through activities such as; sledge hockey, climbing, swimming, and a variety of wheelchair sports. Campers will also get to explore their creative side through dance, gymnastics and art. Our goal is to increase each camper’s confidence in their ability to participate in school and community programs. This camp is offered in partnership with the Vi Riddell Pediatric Rehabilitation Research Program.

Rocky Mountain Adaptive Sports is Putting on a Family & Friends Camp!

Rocky Mountain Adaptive is excited to host an inclusive camping experience for all, including RMA program participants and their friends and family! This 6 day camp is hosted at William Watson Lodge, a fully accessible lodge and camping facility catering to all levels of mobility. Participation in RMA’s Friends & Family Camp will enable recreation in the mountains and boast the opportunity to explore the amazing Peter Lougheed Provincial Park! Rocky Mountain Adaptive will lead programming sessions and provide adaptive equipment to create a supportive and fun environment needed for everyone to participate and learn mountain sports. William Watson Lodge will provide the opportunity to experience all this in a wilderness environment; a truly Canadian experience for all.

Join the FSCD Spring and Summer Programs!

FSCD stands for Family Support for Children with Disabilities and it is run by the City of Calgary and Recreation. The FSCD program provides reduced ratios and are designed to promote inclusion for all participants.
