EDMONTON: October Programs

ASRAB is excited to provide you the following October sport programs!

Upcoming Events Including:

Blind Hockey, Curling, Yoga, Volleyball, Goalball

Blind Hockey

Are you interested in trying out hockey? Consider joining the Edmonton SeeHawks!

The game is modified by an adapted puck that makes noise, and is both bigger and slower than a traditional puck. Players’ levels of vision range from legally blind – approximately 10% vision or less – to totally blind, with the lowest vision athletes playing defence or goal. The team is always welcoming new recruits!

Where: Downtown Community Arena

Ages: 15+

November 3rd: 5-6pm
November 24th: 5-6pm
December 8th: 5-6pm
January 12th: 5-6pm
January 26th: 5-6pm
February 2nd: 5-6pm
February 9th: 5-6pm

March 8th: 5:30-6:30pm
March 22nd: 2-3pm

Registration Fee: $200 fee/member

Curling Try-it!

ASRAB is partnering with the Granite Curling Club to offer two curling try-its for all skill levels.
Curling is a game played on ice, especially in Scotland and Canada, in which large round flat stones are slid across the surface toward a target. Members of a team use brooms to sweep the surface of the ice in the path of the stone to control its speed and direction.

Sign up to learn and play this fun winter sport; no experience necessary!

Yoga with Kari!

Looking for a way to get active that improves balance, strength and flexibility? Yoga is a great way to get active in a relaxing and non-competitive environment!

This 6-week program will allow for you to move at your own pace and adapt to your desired level of challenge. Mats will be provided, all you need to bring is your yogi spirit!

Where: Dovercourt Elementary School

When: Tuesday, October 22rd to December 3rd
(Not including November 12th)

Time: 7:30-8:30pm

All Ages and Abilities Welcomed!

Registration Fee: $20(Covers all 6 sessions)

Details: Come in comfortable clothing you can move well in, and bring water to stay hydrated. If don’t have a yoga mat, one will be provided.

Volleyball Try-it!

Join us for a fun and exciting 2-week volleyball program!

Volleyball is a popular team sport. Teams are separated by a net. The ball is then served over the net and the goal of each team is to ground the ball on the opposing team’s court to score points.

In this program, players we’ll be taken through the basics skills volleyball; ranging from passing, hitting, servings and defending.

Goalball

Fall has come and it’s time to start up the 2019/20 Goalball Season!

Are you interested in trying out goalball?

Goalball is a team sport where players all wear eyeshades to create an equal playing field. Three players play on each side of the court, use tactile tape to move around the court and while listening for the audible ball to block. The ball is throw by one team while the opposing defend their goal.

Where: Spruce Avenue School, 11424 102 St
When: Tuesdays starting September 17th
Time: 7:30-10pm
Ages: All ages
Kids (15 and younger) play the first hour!

Details: Tight athletic pants or shorts are preferred. If you have long hair please wear it up.
