Goalball Results
ASRAB is pleased to congratulate the following ASRAB goalball athletes and coaches for their recent successful Parapan Am competitions:
Women’s Team: Ruby Soliman & Meghan Mahon
Men’s Team: Aron Ghebreyohannes & Blair Nesbitt
Coaches: Trent Farebrother & Darren Hamilton
ASRAB’s Head Coach and Canadian Women’s Coach Trent Farebrother stated that “It was great to have 4 of our Alberta goalball team members on the Canadian Team competing at the Parapan Am Games. Their hard work paid off for the athletes and the teams, and they represented Alberta and Canada well.”

Carla Shibley Won GOLD in Para Cycling!
Carla started out as an ASRAB goalball athlete, before taking her determination and athletic talent to the sport of Para cycling.
She stated “I couldn’t have asked for a better first Games experience! And being selected as the flag bearer for the Closing Ceremonies of the Parapan Am Games was an unbelievable honour!”

Lowell Taylor Won Silver in Para Cycling!
ASRAB followed Lowell and his wife Julie’s tenacious participation in The Amazing Race Canada in 2016. Now we can follow Lowell as he races in Para cycling!
Lowell said “Those of us with visual impairments can do more than we think we can and more than society says we can. Though we have limited sight, we can have a lot of vision! My vision for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics is still burning bright! Thank you ASRAB for your support and for enabling so many to pursue meaning and connection through sport!”

Parapan Am Games
The Parapan American Games, August 23 to September 1, 2019 in Lima, Peru, is an international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the American Paralympic Committee. There are 17 Parasports that will be played including goalball. Lima will serve as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
